LINCOLN, Neb. - The men’s gymnastics team competed in the first of two weekend dual meets on Friday evening, traveling to ninth-ranked Nebraska, falling to the Huskers by a score of 421.750-412.800.
Junior Jesse Glenn claimed the all-around title, posting a total score of 84.800. He was followed by teammate and plebe Nathan Goff who earned a score of 80.600 in just his second collegiate all-around competition.
The two teams alternated on floor to kick off the competition, with Leo Genders leading the way for the Black Knights with a second-place mark of 14.500. Glenn tied for third on the first apparatus, earning a score of 14.550.
Also competing for Army on floor exercise was Nathan Goff (13.900), Joe Pritts (13.800), Sam Kusnitz (13.700) and Seth Cannon (13.550).
Nebraska freshman Kyle King, the reigning P&G Championships top finisher, claimed first place, edging Genders with a score of 14.600.
The teams moved to pommel horse for rotation two, with Glenn posting Army’s lone top-five finish. The junior claimed second with a season-best score of 14.300. He was followed by Connor Venrick (14.050), Goff (14.000), Andre Hufnagel (13.600), Cannon (13.250) and Chris Short (13.100).
Army headed to vault for the third rotation, posting its best performance on the apparatus of the season. With a team total of 72.050, the Black Knights were again led by Glenn who tied a career-best mark of 15.000 en route to a first place finish.
Pritts tied for second with a score of 14.750 and was followed by Cannon in fourth with a score of 14.550. Also competing on vault was Kusnitz (14.150), Genders (13.600) and Nicholas Mcafee (13.550).
Venrick led the way for Army on the still rings, earning a second place finish with a score of 13.750. He was the lone Black Knight in the top five and was followed by Pritts (13.150), Short (13.150), Glenn (12.900) and Goff (12.800).
Moving to high bar, Genders posted top marks for Army with a season-best score of 14.350 en route to a first place finish. He was followed by Glenn’s fourth place finish (13.900).
Also competing on high bar for Army was Kusnitz (12.950), Short (12.750), Goff (12.700) and Cannon (12.700).
The Black Knights wrapped up the evening on parallel bars, led by Glenn’s fourth place finish (14.200). Short took sixth with a mark of 13.800 and was followed by Goff in eighth (13.700).
McAfee posted a score of 13.400 and was followed by Pritts (13.300) and Kunitz (13.000).
With the loss, the Black Knights drop to 0-2 in dual meets on the season, having fallen to two top-10 teams in Penn State and Nebraska.
