No. 2 TCU Defeats Rifle

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point Rifle team hosted No. 2 TCU on Sunday and fell 4697-4632.
The ninth-ranked Black Knights scored 2305 in smallbore and 2327 in air rifle while the Horned Frogs scored 2333 and 2364, respectively. TCU remains undefeated at 8-0 while Army is now 1-5.
Sophomore Josh Martin posted the Black Knights' fourth-best smallbore score of the season with a 583, good enough for a tie for third in the match. Martin posted perfect scores in both kneeling and standing, and scored a 99 and 100 in prone.
Senior Alyssa Gestl led Army in air rifle for the third straight match. Her 587 was fifth-best in the match as she scored 99 in four of the six stages. Gestl's 1163 aggregate score also placed her fifth in the match.
Hannah Black led the way for TCU with an 1180 aggregate. She took medalist honors in smallbore (587) and runner-up in air rifle (593). Sally Li earned medalist in air rifle with a 594 score.
The Black Knights will take a week off before returning to the range on Dec. 5 for a home match against VMI. That is Army's last contest for the fall season as they will not return to action again until Jan. 16 against Kentucky.
