Women's Tennis Closes Out West Point Invite

WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Army West Point women's tennis team closed out action in the West Point Invite on Sunday afternoon, as Bridget Guenard captured an individual title for the Black Knights on the final day of action.
Guenard defeated second-seeded Gillian Perrotta of UConn in the final of 4th singles draw by a score of 6-1, 6-3 to earn the title.
In doubles action, Gabriella Spindler and Eva Sung defeated a duo from Marist by a score of 6-2 before falling to the top-seeded pair from Cornell in the quarterfinals by a score of 6-3 in Draw A.
In Draw B of doubles action, Julian Mok and Arianna Spiritos earned a 7-6 (5) win in the round of 16, but fell to the top seeded duo in the quarterfinals by a score of 6-3.
In singles action, Carolyn Pitman advanced to the semifinals with a 6-2, 7-6 (3) win over Dena Tanenbaum of Cornell, but fell 6-4, 6-7 (5), 10-8 to Srna Stosljevic of Uconn.
Melanie Allen advanced to the semifnals of the third singles, earning a 6-2, 6-1 win over Rianne Van Son of LIU and a 6-2, 6-3 victory over second-seedend Jovana Kenic of Alabany. Allen droped a 6-0, 6-1 decision to champion Michelle Wang.
Army will rest before returning to action on Oct. 9-11 at the Middlebury Invite.
