Volleyball to Host Hudson Valley Rival Marist

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Coming off a victorious weekend at the Black Knights Invitational, the Army West Point volleyball team returns to Christl Arena to face Marist for a Hudson Valley showdown Wednesday at 5 p.m.

Army enters the match with a 4-2 mark after going 3-0 last weekend at the Black Knights Invitational. Army won its tournament by defeating Iona, 3-0, William & Mary, 3-2, and Cornell, 3-0.

The Black Knights had a thrilling come-from-behind win over William & Mary Saturday night. Trailing 12-7 in the fifth set, Army scored eight of the final nine points to knock off the Tribe.

After being tabbed as the tournament's Most Valuable Player, Jaden Pickell was named the Army Athletic Association Athlete of the Week. She tallied 43 kills on 70 attempts for a .386 hitting percentage.

In the comeback win over the Tribe, Pickell had a career-high performance in kills with 19, and in the victory over Cornell the yearling recorded a career-high in digs with 16.

Firstie co-captain Vanessa Edwards registered her third double-double of the season in the match against William & Mary with 52 assists and 15 digs. Edwards joined Pickell on the All-Tournament Team alongside yearling Vanessa Wesley who totaled 20 kills and added 13 blocks.

Marist enters the match with a 2-4 record. The Red Foxes played at the Crosstown Tournament over Labor Day where they faced Morehead State (W, 3-1), Lehigh (L, 3-0) and Lafayette (L, 3-2).

Army leads 33-3 in the all-time series against the Red Foxes, which began in 1982.
