DAY TWO RESULTS
Â
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – After going five-over during the second day at the Hayt Collegiate Invitational, the Army West Point golf team improved to 11th place. The Black Knights have totaled 315-293—608 (+32) with one more round to go.
Â
"The team competed well today and played with a lot of heart," said head coach Brian Watts. "We had some holes that gave us trouble again, but the guys fought back and finished up strong. They are looking forward to tomorrow's final round. We had another great following of former Army Grads and service members cheering on the cadets today. We are grateful to have the opportunity to spend time with so many who have served."
Â
The Black Knights rank 11th with 608 strokes on the weekend. No. 13 Oklahoma State has taken over the lead with a total of 581 (+5) and is followed by No. 37 North Florida with a nine-over score of 585.
Â
"Marcus had another good day along with Justin, Dean and Matt," Watts added. "They all gave themselves opportunities to make putts and were able to capitalize on most. The highlight of the day was watching the Plunkett brothers making back to back Eagles in our 17 hole of the day."
Â
Marcus Plunkett jumped 12 places after carding another even-par score. He totaled 72 strokes with an eagle and a birdie on the front nine. Dean Sakata also moved up the ranks and is now tied for 28th. He tallied three birdies today with two on the front nine and one on the back nine.
Â
Matt Plunkett is tied for 46th with a total of 80-74—154 (+10) strokes. He notched one eagle and one birdie today to shoot a two-over score of 74.

Â
The Black Knights will be back in action for another 18-holes tomorrow at the Sawgrass Country Club.

The Sawgrass Oceanside course (East-West) is a par-72, 6,966-yard course. It has been host to a number of professional and amateur events including the PGA Tour's Tournament Players Championship from 1977-81 when the course tested some of the greatest players of all time.
