Air Rifle Finals
AKRON, Ohio – Senior Alyssa Gestl of the Army West Point rifle team shot in the air rifle discipline at the NCAA Championships this weekend and placed 41st with a score of 583.
Gestl was competing in the NCAAs for the third time in her four years at the Academy. The Black Knights leader in air rifle and aggregate score throughout the season earned an individual invite for her strong season.
Ginny Thasher of West Virginia claimed medalist honors in air rifle a day after winning the smallbore title. Mindy Miles of TCU was the runner-up as the two were separated by half a point.
Freshman Nathan Brewer competed in smallbore the previous day. He shot a 583 to make the smallbore championships where he placed seventh in the finals with a score of 401.8.
