WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's tennis team secured another victory in Patriot League competition with a 7-0 win versus Lafayette on Friday evening. The Black Knight are now one victory short of a double-digit win streak as their current nine-game streak has them at 16-3 on the season. The Leopards fall to 1-6 this spring.
Army had a tight contest in the top doubles flight as senior Eva Sung and freshman Rugile Valuniate survived with a 7-6 win. The pairing now sports a 7-1 record this season.
Senior Gabriella Spindler and freshman Arianna Spirtos shutout their opponents in the fourth and sixth singles position 6-0, 6-0 for their second wins in as many days.
The Black Knights had a strong showing across all the singles. In total, they lost only seven games in 12 sets.
Army travels to the state of Maryland next weekend to face a pair of conference opponents. The first is the Star Match against Navy on Saturday, April 2. The Black Knights follow by playing at Loyola (Md.) on Sunday, April 3.
