Freshman Cassie Mundekis took home Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors following a strong performance at the Bucknell Outdoor Classic. She finished fourth out of 90 runners in the 800 meter run (2:11.73) and improved her personal-best time in the 1500 meter run by over five seconds, finishing the race in 4:35.71.
Sophomore Briyah Brown also broke her own Academy record in the shot put where her best throw reached 15.15 meters.
The women's team had a number of good performances last year at this invitational, highlighted by Brown and fellow sophomore Meagen Hills. Brown finished second in the shot put (14.71 meters) while Hilla earned sixth in the high jump (1.65 meters).
"It's a step up from the week before," said Smith on the competition. "Most of our season is a progression to prepare ourselves for the Patriot League Championships and beyond. This meet will be a step in that direction."
