Men’s Rugby Prepares for Weekend Doubleheader

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point men's rugby team will have its hands full this weekend with a pair of Rugby East matchups on the road, starting Friday with a 6:30 p.m. kickoff at St. Bonaventure and continuing on Saturday at Buffalo for an 11 a.m. start.
Army holds a 2-0 advantage in the all-time series over both St. Bonaventure and Buffalo, with both series starting in the 2014-15 season.
ARMY (3-0, 2-0 Rugby East)
• The Black Knights have started the season 3-0 for the third-consecutive season.
• Junior fly half Jon Kim leads the squad in scoring with 36 points on one try, 11 conversions and three penalty kicks.
• Senior team captain Luke Heun and juniors Jake Lachina and Jareth Long-Garrett have all scored a team-high three tries.
• Lachina, Heun, Adam Szott, Nathan Williams, Sean Berry, Chris L'Amoureux and Ben Lemon have been penciled into the starting 15 for each of the first three games.
ST. BONAVENTURE (1-1, 1-1 Rugby East)
• The Bonnies are 1-1 in Rugby East play after defeating Buffalo, 48-31, and falling to Wheeling Jesuit, 60-15.
• Christian Alonso and Eamonn Matthews are the leading scorers for St. Bonaventure with two tries apiece.
• Alonso scored his tries in the first half against Buffalo, while Matthews dotted down in the second half.
BUFFALO (0-1, 0-1 Rugby East)
• The Bulls are 0-1 on the season after dropping a 48-31 decision to St. Bonaventure.
• Maninderjit Singh led the way offensively with a pair of tries.
• Luca Wrabetz converted 3-of-4 attempts in the game.
