Army Poised to Defend All-Academies Championship

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point wrestling team will compete in its first tournament of the calendar year at the All-Academy Championships, hosted by Navy, on Sunday from Alumni Hall. The tournament is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m., while the finals are slated to start at 4 p.m.

ARMY (6-3, 4-1 EIWA)
• Army has won the tournament three times since its inception in the 1994-95 season: 1995-96, 2007-08 and 2015-16.
• The Black Knights have finished second in each of the two previous years following a championship.
• Last season, Logan Everett, Andrew Mendel, Brian Harvey and Bryce Barnes won individual titles, while Russ Parsons and Samson Imonode collected runner-up finishes.
• A total of 40 Black Knights have won individual championships in the tournament's 22-year history, with the most coming from 141 and 149 lbs. with seven champions each.

• The field will consist of the usual eight service academies from across the country: Air Force, Army, The Citadel, Coast Guard, Merchant Marine, Navy, Norwich and VMI.
• Three of the six individual champions from 2015-16 not from Army are returning for this year's competition: 125-pounder Dalton Henderson (VMI), 133-pounder Zack Davis (Navy), who now wrestles at 141 lbs., and 157-pounder Aaron Walker (The Citadel).
• Air Force's 165-pounder, Tyler Wiederholt, sports a record of 19-9, while going 2-1 in duals. He has compiled two tech. falls and four pins on the season.
• Junior Chris Sullivan of the Coast Guard is 23-3 record with six falls.
• Sophomore heavyweight Victor Raigoza holds a season mark of 21-8 for the Merchant Marine.
• Jadaen Bernstein, Navy's 16th-ranked 174-pounder, is 19-6 in his junior campaign with a perfect 6-0 record in duals. He has ten bonus point wins on four major decisions, four tech. falls and two pins.
• VMI's Neal Richards is 18-3 overall and 7-1 in duals on the season. He has four major decisions, two tech. falls and three pins.
