Rifle Drops Match to Murray State
October 08, 2017 | Rifle
Murray, Ky. - The No. 12 Army West Point rifle team was defeated by No. 3 Murray State in a tough match on Sunday.
Coach's Quotes:
"We performed much better today," said head coach Web Wright. "We had a 60 point improvement and that was a lot more indicative of where we should be at this point in the season."
"I am particularly pleased with our kneeling and prone. Payne [Nunn] shot a perfect score prone, and Kaitlyn [Kutz] and Emiliano [Concha-Toro] shot near perfect. The team shot these positions well across the board. I feel as if we held our own against a top three NCAA team. We will work on standing and spend some time with CEP to work on some mental aspects."
"Another highlight was Kaitlyn's air rifle. She started out a little slow, made some changes, then ran 33 10's and finished strong. She performed well under pressure. Clayton [Hanson] was the smallbore team leader. He shot the season high of 583, as a plebe."
AGGREGATE (4650)
SMALLBORE (2314)
AIR RIFLE (2336)
UP NEXT: Army will battle against No. 11 Memphis on Monday, Oct. 9, for the last match of their three-day series.
