Army Continues Homestand Versus Southern Methodist

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point men's tennis team hits the Lichtenberg Tennis Center courts on Thursday for a duel with #22 Southern Methodist University, beginning at 6 p.m.
The Black Knights enter the match with a record of 2-3 on the season.
LAST TIME OUT
Army dropped three tough contests versus Yale, Furman and Loyola Marymount last weekend at home.
Against Loyola Marymount, Michael Nguyen rallied for a comeback win out of the number-one singles spot with a 4-6, 6-2, 10-5 victory. David Mitchell recorded a three-set victory in the fourth singles spot with a 6-3, 5-7, 10-8 win.
Versus Yale, Grant Riechmann and Nikita Pereverzin scored a doubles victory from the number two slot, 6-3. Myles Conlin scored a victory in the sixth singles slot, 6-4, 6-2, versus the Bulldogs.
In the fourth singles position against Yale, David Mitchell won, 6-3, 6-4, over Ryan Cheng.
Opposite Furman, Sam Lampman and Gregory Shannon lost a hard-fought top doubles match, 6-4, while Riechmann and Pereverzin also fell, 6-4, in the second doubles spot.
SCOUTING SOUTHERN METHODIST
The Mustangs enter Thursday's matchup with a record of 3-2 on the season, and recently split a pair of matches this past weekend against Ole Miss and Baylor. Southern Methodist defeated the Rebels by a score of 4-3 on Saturday, and then lost, 4-0 to the Bears on Sunday.

The Black Knights will stay home and host the University of Connecticut and Buffalo University on Saturday beginning at 8 a.m. in the Lichtenberg Tennis Center.
