Army to Face Fordham and St. Bonaventure

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point men's tennis team is hosting Fordham and St. Bonaventure this Saturday at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center.
The action will kick off against Fordham at 11:30 a.m., and will conclude against St. Bonaventure at 4:30 p.m.
The Black Knights enter the match with a record of 7-6 on the season.
LAST TIME OUT
The Cadets swept their opponents last weekend with a 4-1 win over Bryant, a 4-0 defeat of Stony Brook and a 4-1 victory over NJIT.
In the first match against Bryant on Saturday, Army captured the doubles points with a 7-5 win at no. one doubles and a 6-3 win at no. two doubles. The singles points came from Sam Lampman (6-4, 7-6 (8-6)) at the No. two spot, Grant Riechmann (6-4, 6-1) at the No. three notch, and David Mitchell (7-6 (7-3), 6-4) at the No. four position.
The Black Knights continued the momentum on Sunday with a sweep over Stony Brook. The scoring started with the No. two and No. three doubles securing 6-4, 7-5 victories, respectfully. In singles Lampman continued his success in the No. two slot with a 6-2, 6-3 win. The other points came from the No. five singles where Anant Mundra went 6-3, 7-6 (7-2) and at the No. six singles with Michael Sienko getting the win 6-3, 7-6 (7-2).
The cadets rounded out the weekend with the victory over NJIT, with the first points coming from a one-two punch in the doubles. No. one doubles won by a score of 7-5 while the No. two doubles had a 6-2 victory. In singles Michael Nguyen secured the first points with a 6-3, 6-1 victory. Riechmann continued his success at No. three singles with a 6-3, 6-2 victory and Mundra secured the win for Army with a 6-1, 6-4 victory at the No. six singles.
Senior captain Sam Lampman was also named the Patriot League Corvais Player of the week for his two straight set wins at No. two singles and his undefeated run at No. two doubles.
SCOUTING FORDHAM (7-3, 1-2 A10)
In their last outing the Rams fell to conference foe Saint Louis University, 2-5, before rebounding against Hofstra with a 4-2 victory. In their match against the Billikens, Fordham was able to get points at their number-two and number five singles positions. Against the Pride, the Rams had to fight back and win at number-one, two, five and six singles to get the victory.
SCOUTING ST. BONAVENTURE (4-7, 0-1 A10)
The Bonnies are coming into the weekend after picking up a victory 4-3 over Wright State on Wednesday. St. Bonaventure started the scoring by capturing the doubles points and closed the door by getting victories at the number-one, two and four singles positions.
UP NEXT
The Black Knights will travel to the West Coast to take on the UC Santa Cruz, Saint Mary's College of California, UC Santa Clara and BYU over spring break.
