Army Looks for Back-To-Back Wins Over Navy

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's track and field team is heading to Annapolis, Md., to attempt to win its second straight Army-Navy Star Meet as part of the Star Series presented by USAA.

During the indoor season, the Black Knights beat the Mids., 100-81 at West Point. Last year in the outdoor meet, Navy edged out a 103-100 victory in Annapolis. Since 2000, Army has won four of the 16 outdoor meetings.

During their domination of the indoor meeting, Army placed first in ten of the 17 events. The meet was highlighted by a victory in the 3000-meter run by first-year Bethany Nunnery (9:55.83), sophomore captain Abby Halbrook's large lead in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:13.48 and Calli McMullens first place finish in the 400-meter dash with a personal best time of 58.72s.

In the field events, freshman Kamryn Brinson collected gold in the weight throw with a distance of 17.76 meters. Tya'tianna Johnson was atop the podium in the triple jump with a leap of 11.33 meters and Briyah Brown finished first in the shot put reaching 14.59 meters.

In their last outdoor competition, Army placed fifth at the Penn Challenge scoring 24 points on the day. McMullen placed third in the 100-meter dash clocking a time of 12.17s. Brown was second in the shot put with a toss of 14.08 meters and she placed fifth in the hammer throw with a distance of 50.43 meters. Â
