Black Knights Ready for Friday Matchup with Stags

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point men's soccer team is off to a 2-0 start to the 2017 campaign and is back at Malek Stadium at Clinton Field for a matchup with Fairfield on Friday at 12:30 p.m.

The Black Knights and Stags have met 10 times in a series that dates back to 1981. Army took the first eight meetings between the two teams, but Fairfield has since defeated the Black Knights in 2014 and played to a draw the following year.
ARMY (2-0, 0-0 Patriot League)
• The Black Knights are coming off a 3-0 road win over Stony Brook on Monday.
• Army last started a season 2-0 in 2013, a season in which the Black Knights played to an undefeated record in their first five outings.
• Sophomore Rex Epps has scored in both games this season and has now tallied back-to-back scores four times in his young playing career.
• The Black Knights' defense has put on a strong display over the first two games of the season, posting two consecutive shutouts in 190 minutes of action.
• The opposition has only been able to manufacture two shots on goal in each of the first two contests. Â

• Fairfield kicked off its 2017 campaign out west, where the team played to a 1-1 record.
• The Stags defeated Oregon State in the season opener, 2-1, before being blanked by No. 15 Portland, 6-0 on Sunday night.
• In the loss to Portland, Fairfield was limited to two shots.Â
• Through two games, the Stags have been outshot 34-8 in attempts, and 18-2 in shots on goal.
• Senior Angus Hastings and freshman Don-Junior Bobe are responsible for the team'sonlygoals of the season.
