Nunn Scores 587 at NCAA Championships

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Junior Payne Nunn of the Army West Point rifle team competed in the air rifle discipline at the NCAA Championships Saturday.
In his first showing at the NCAA's, Nunn placed 30th in this discipline with a score of 587.

"Payne shot pretty well, Considering this was his first NCAA Championship," said head coach Web Wright. "He has really come a long way since walking on to the team three years ago."

"I think this has lit a spark that will definitely carry over to the rest of the team. Payne is a natural leader and will inspire the team to greater things this year. He told me getting the team into the championship next year will be his goal. I intend to hold both of us to that."
AIR RIFLE- In the final standings, Nunn's 587 tied with four others among 48 competitors.
- Nunn shot 98-97-96-99-98-99 to achieve this score.
- Milica Babic from West Virginia won this discipline with a score of 598. Mindy Miles from TCU scored 598 which was good for second. Ginny Thrasher from West Vriginia placed third, shooting 597.
