Women's Rugby to Compete in Brown 7s Tournament

WEST POINT, N.Y.- The Army West Point women's rugby team will travel to Providence this weekend to compete in the Brown 7s Tournament, facing Norwich on Sunday at 12:20 p.m. in their first match, followed by UNE at 1:20 p.m.

- The Cadets defeated Northeastern, Harvard, and AIC last weekend in the Crimson 7s Tournament.
- They advanced to the Championship match, where they defeated the Crimson for a second time, 34-10.
- Senior Rebecca Stipp currently leads the team in tries this season with nine.
- Norwich dropped a 55-7 match to Quinnipiac in the first round of the NIRA playoffs last season.
- Junior Sheila Decker returns as a leading scorer for the Cadets.
- Decker was also named a 2017 NIRA All-American, finishing with 12 tries.
- The Nor'easters defeated Bowdoin 57-14 to clinch the Tier 2 NIRA Championship match in 2017.
- Five members of the team were named to the NIRA All-American list last season.
- Senior Heather Baron returns as a starter, who earned First Team accolades last year.
