WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Army West Point women's soccer team picked up three points in the Patriot League standings after defeating American, 3-1, on the road on Saturday afternoon.

The Black Knights were edged in shots by the Eagles, 12-11, but made the most of their opportunities after putting in three of their eight shots on goal into the back of the net.

ARMY HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES

The Black Knights won their third straight league match.
It marks the longest Patriot League winning streak since claiming three in a row to close out the 2013 regular season.
Morgan Walsh and Lauren Drysdale both recorded their second goals of the year.
Sydney Shafer handed out her first helper of the season.
Army tied its season-high single-game mark for goals with three.
The Black Knights notched double-digit shots for the 11th time this season.
The Cadets logged double-digit shots for the third consecutive outing.
Sydney Cassalia made three stops in between the pipes.
She picked up her sixth victory of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Army struck first after Shafer found Walsh for the score in the 11th minute.
The Black Knights tacked on their second goal of the game in the 14th minute to grab a 2-0 advantage.
American had an answer, and in the 16th minute Emily Smith put in a penalty kick to trim the deficit to one.
In the 78th minute, Army was awarded a penalty kick. The Black Knights turned to Drysdale and she delivered the third goal of the game.
