Army women's soccer duo recognized after 1-0 win at Loyola Maryland clinches share of regular-season title
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Army West Point women's soccer junior defender Daisy West (Fort Montgomery, N.Y./James I. O'Neill) and freshman Lily Marquez (Dallas, Texas/Ursuline Academy of Dallas) were named Patriot League Defender and Rookie of the Week, respectively, Monday, the conference office announced.
The honors follow Army's 1-0 win at Loyola Maryland on Saturday, which clinched at least a share of the 2026 Patriot League regular-season championship for the Black Knights (10-6-1, 7-0-1 Patriot League) and tied the program record with a ninth consecutive shutout.
Daisy West | Defender of the Week
West played all 90 minutes at the back as Army shut out Loyola Maryland for the ninth straight match, matching the program record set in 1993. The Black Knights allowed four shots on goal, none of which found the net, and have outscored opponents, 20-0, during the streak. The nine-match run is the longest active streak in the NCAA.
She has played all 90 minutes in each of Army's last 15 matches. A preseason All-Patriot League selection and a 2025 All-Patriot League third-team honoree, West has a goal and an assist this season, scoring Army's lone goal at Air Force on Aug. 13 and assisting Sabrina Rogers' goal at Maine. It is her third Defender of the Week honor of the season, after Sept. 21 and Oct. 26.
Lily Marquez | Rookie of the Week
Marquez scored the game-winning goal at 40:34, finishing a pass from Bella Conti for her second goal of the season. She played 24 minutes off the bench and put her only shot of the match on goal.
The goal came one week after she scored the first goal of her career at Bucknell on Oct. 24, and she has appeared in seven matches this season. It is Marquez's second Rookie of the Week honor, following Oct. 26.
Army closes the regular season Wednesday, Nov. 4, against Holy Cross at 6 p.m. at Malek Stadium at Clinton Field. A shutout would give the Black Knights sole possession of the program record for consecutive shutouts.
