Marquez scores the game-winner, Dail saves a penalty kick as Black Knights post ninth straight shutout
BALTIMORE, MD. – Army women's soccer clinched at least a share of the 2026 Patriot League regular-season championship, according to the league office, and tied the program record for consecutive shutouts with a 1-0 win at Loyola Maryland on Saturday at Ridley Athletic Complex.
Army (10-6-1, 7-0-1 Patriot League) has not allowed a goal in nine straight matches, matching the nine-match streak set in 1993 and outscoring opponents, 20-0, over the stretch. The Black Knights have posted a shutout in all eight of their conference matches this season, and the nine-match run is the longest active streak in the NCAA.
Freshman Lily Marquez scored the lone goal at 40:34, her second of the season and second in as many matches, off a pass from Bella Conti. Marquez, the Patriot League Rookie of the Week, played 24 minutes off the bench.
Karalyn Dail made four saves in 90 minutes to earn her 10th win of the season, including a save on a penalty kick by Betzael Contreras at 46:33, just 93 seconds into the second half. She also stopped shots from Brigid McElderry (46:23) and Savannah Manset (56:05 and 88:02).
Army held a 6-3 edge in corner kicks. Grace Pohlidal led the Black Knights with three shots, and Sabrina Rogers and Leila Castell each put a shot on goal in the first half. Conti, who played 84 minutes, recorded her second assist of the season.
The Black Knights earned their first regular-season win at Loyola Maryland in series history (1-3-2) and lead the all-time series, 9-3-3. Army is 5-1-2 against the Greyhounds under head coach Tracy Chao.
