McWhinney, Conti Earn Patriot League Weekly Honors
October 19, 2026 | Women's Soccer
McWhinney earned Rookie of the Week honors for the fourth time this season, having also won the award on Aug. 24, Sept. 21 and Oct. 5. She also was named Forward of the Week on Sept. 21. Conti earned her first weekly honor of the season.
Both players scored in Army's 4-0 win over Lafayette on Saturday at Malek Stadium at Clinton Field on Senior Night. McWhinney scored her ninth goal of the season, which leads the Patriot League, at 49:43 off an assist from Megan Youngberg to extend the Black Knights' lead to 3-0. Her teammates call her "inevitable" whenever she is on the field with a nose for the goal. She has scored in four of Army's six Patriot League matches this season, including two goals against American on Sept. 19.
Conti doubled Army's lead with an unassisted goal at 42:40, sending the Black Knights into halftime with a 2-0 advantage. She took four shots, two of them on goal, in 86 minutes, and has four goals and an assist this season.
Army (8-6-1, 5-0-1 Patriot League) outshot Lafayette, 26-7, and has not allowed a goal in seven straight matches, which ties for the second-longest streak in program history. The Black Knights next play at Bucknell on Saturday, Oct. 24, at 1 p.m. in Lewisburg, Pa.
