October 08, 2026 | Women's Soccer
CHESTER, Pa. — Army West Point women's soccer, unbeaten and unscored upon in Patriot League play, puts the Army-Navy Cup on the line Friday when it faces Navy in the Star Match at 4 p.m. at Subaru Park in Chester, Pa.
The Black Knights (7-6-0, 4-0-0 Patriot League) have won five straight and have not allowed a goal in their last five matches, outscoring opponents 11-0 over that stretch. Army has shut out each of its four Patriot League opponents so far: American, Lehigh, Boston University and Colgate. Navy (10-4-1, 3-1 Patriot League) comes in on a three-game winning streak, having beaten Colgate, Lehigh and Holy Cross by 3-1 scores.
THE SERIES:
Navy holds a slim edge in the all-time series, 18-16-5, but Army has not lost to the Midshipmen in five meetings (4-0-1) and holds the Cup after a 2-2 tie in last year's Star Match at Subaru Park. Grace Pohlidal scored twice in that match, tying it in the 84th minute, and has three goals in the last two meetings with Navy. Army won the 2024 meeting at West Point, 4-0, and is 2-1-1 all-time in neutral-site matches against Navy. Head coach Tracy Chao is 4-1-1 against the Midshipmen.
IINSIDE THE MATCHUP:
Freshman Kamryn McWhinney leads the Patriot League with seven goals and three game-winning goals, and her 14 points rank second in the conference. She scored in each of Army's two road wins last week, including the game-winner 62 seconds into the 2-0 win at Boston University, and has been named Patriot League Rookie of the Week three times. Navy's Natasha Stramrood has started in goal all season, posting a 1.26 goals-against average and a 78.4 save percentage, with six shutouts for Navy as a team. Stramrood faced 23 Army shots in the 2024 meeting.
Navy's Jessica Black leads the Midshipmen with 15 points on five goals and a team-high five assists, and Navy has scored 34 goals this season (2.27 per game). She will face an Army defense that has not conceded in conference play behind goalkeeper Karalyn Dail, who made nine saves in the win at Boston University and four more at Colgate. Daisy West has played all 90 minutes in each of Army's last three matches, and Ailyn Rowe had two assists against Colgate.
McWhinney is not the only Black Knight finding the net. Bella Conti, Maddi Woodward, Makaela Morrell and Leila Castell have all scored in the last two weeks, and Sophia Henry had the game-winner against Cornell.
Kickoff at Subaru Park is set for 4:00 p.m. and will be available to livestream on ESPN+. The Men's Soccer Army-Navy Cup will kick off at 7:00 p.m., following the conclusion of the women's contest.
