Black Knights Drop Close One to Columbia

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army women's basketball team took Columbia down to the wire, but ultimately fell in a 71-62 decision Saturday afternoon at Christl Arena.
Alisa Fallon totaled a career-high 16 points, to lead the scoring effort for the Cadets. The sophomore shot 5-of-10 from the field and was 2-of-5 from 3-point range. Additionally, Kamryn Hall registered her first career double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Janiya Clemmons paced the Lions with 15 points on a 6-of-14 clip from the field. Abbey Hsu was the team's second leading scorer with 11. As a team, Columbia collected 22 offensive rebounds.

- Army is now 10-4 all-time opposite the Lions and 5-2 in games played at West Point.
- Fallon has now reached double-figures in three consecutive games. She surpassed her previous career high of 11 points, which she set against St. Francis Brooklyn on Nov. 28, 2019.
- Hall surpassed her season total of 3-pointers made entering the contest, shooting a perfect 3-for-3 from beyond-the-arc. Additionally, she's now reached double-figures in back-to-back games.
- Lindsey Scamman also finished with 11 points, marking her fourth game this season with double-digit scoring. She had three such games all of last season.
- This marked the first home game for the Black Knights since the season-opener against William & Mary on Nov. 5.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Columbia opened the first quarter taking a 13-6 lead, but Hall drilled a trey late in the opening frame to make the score 9-13. The basket was the start of a 9-0 run for the Black Knights that extended into the second quarter. All three of the Cadets' buckets in the span were from beyond-the-arc.
- The rest of the second quarter was neck-and-neck, as there were seven lead changes. Fallon and Hall led the scoring efforts in the stanza with six points apiece. As a team, the Black Knights shot 62.5 percent (5-of-8) from 3-point range in the second. Though it was the Lions that held the slight 33-32 advantage at halftime.
- Both teams cooled off a bit to start the second half with Army shooting 33.3 percent from the field in the third quarter and Columbia at a 38.1 percent clip.
- Army opened the final quarter of play on a 10-0 run to take the 56-49 lead with just under seven minutes left to play. The momentum shifted, however, back to the favor of Columbia, which outscored Army 22-6 after the run.
