Smith Named All-Met Second Team

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point junior Kya Smith was named to the Met Basketball Writers Association Second Team, the organization announced on Tuesday.
Smith, a native of Lubbock, Texas, led the Black Knights in a number of categories and was one of the best mid major players in the country this season. Smith led Army in points (13.7), rebounds (10.2), field goal percentage (51.4), assists (107) and steals (55).
She scored in double-digits 25 times this season and has 14 double-doubles to her name. Smith recorded five 20-plus point performances. Smith scored a career-high 27 points in Army's win over Howard on Dec. 29, while also grabbing 22 rebounds. She delivered 20 points on 9-10 shooting against Big Ten-foe Oregon.
Smith also proved to be an excellent playmaker for Army this season, recording three-plus assists in 21 games. Smith had a career-high eight assists in Army's road win at Lafayette. She was the only player in the Patriot League to average 13-plus points, 10-plus rebounds and three-plus assists this season.
Defensively, Smith has some of the most active hands in the conference, as her 55 steals ranked third in the Patriot League.
Smith was also named Second Team All-Patriot League and a member of the All-Defensive Team.
