Army Rifle Wraps Up Season At NCAA Championship

MORGANTOWN, W.V. - The Army West Point rifle team closed out its season after completing the air rifle portion of the NCAA Championship at West Virginia University on Saturday.
The Black Knights posted a score of 2351 in air rifle, which was good enough for sixth in the discipline. Combined with Friday's smallbore score, the team finished sixth overall with an aggregate score of 4646.
Army was led by sophomore co-captain Clayton Hanson, who recorded the fifth highest air rifle score at 593. He qualified for the individual championship where he finished eighth. Hanson had the competition's ninth best aggregate score at 1172.
TCU claimed the team championship with an aggregate score of 4699. Two TCU Horned Frogs topped the individual championship, with Angeline Henry claiming the air rifle title.
Senior Payne Nunn finished his Army career with a 590 air rifle score and an 1169 aggregate. He exits Army as the school's program record holder in air rifle with a 597 score earlier this season.
