Women's Rugby Advances to Quarterfinals of CRC's

PHILADELPHIA, PA - The Army West Point women's rugby team opened up the 2019 Collegiate Rugby Championships with three shutout victories in pool play to advance to the quarterfinals.
"We had three solid performances without quite hitting our heights," said Assistant Coach Steve Lewis. "We'll move on to day two with confidence, and most satisfying was the fact that we didn't concede a point."
The Black Knights set the pace of the day with a 38-0 victory over NSCO Rugby. The momentum continued into the next match, as the Cadets followed suit with another 38-0 win in game number two against Kutztown.
Army wrapped up the day by taking down Northeastern, 34-0.
ARMY HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES
- Junior Sam Sullivan scored four tries on the day to extend her team lead this spring to 27.
- Freshman Naomi Colin also crossed the try line four times in the three games.
- Fellow plebe Alex DiMarco added three tries of her own.
- Junior Bayleigh Gable had two tries, as well as two conversions.
- McKenzie Borchers led the team with four conversions, with Eleanor Burnett right behind with three.
