Army Sweeps Doubleheader Against Binghamton

WEST POINT, N.Y. - Army West Point women's tennis continued its incredible run on Saturday afternoon, extending its win streak to four matches with two wins over Binghamton at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center. Army finished the weekend 3-0 with three shutout wins over its opponents.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Black Kngihts carried the momentum from its victory over Seton Hall into Saturday's doubleheader with Binghamton to earn a pair of wins. The first match, which started at 10 am, was headlined by plebe Cooper Jackson, who earned a win with Paige Herremans on the doubles court with a 6-0 result before recording a 6-1, 6-1 win in singles play. Caroline Ahn and Justin Dondonay tallied a 6-1 win and Anna Loureiro and MaryJo Pidgeon followed their lead with a 6-1 win of their own to help Army secure the doubles point.
In singles action the team followed Jackson's lead, cruising to six wins to sweep Binghamton. Anna Laureiro and Jenna Sabile had the largest margins of victory in the match at the sixth and fourth pairings. Laureiro ran away with a 6-0, 6-0 win while Sabile downed her opponent, 6-1, 6-0. Carolyn Ahn, Elizabeth Gilbert and Julia Kelly all picked up wins to give Army the shutout, 7-0, win.
Binghamton suffered the same fate in the second matchup with the Cadets. The match started with a 3-0 sweep in doubles action led by Stephanie Dolehide and Caroline Vincent on the first court. The duo shutout their opponents to win 6-0. Jenna Sabile and Julia Kelly won their match on the second court, 6-1, to secure the doubles point for Army
In singles play, Sophie McKenzie and MaryJo Pidgeon led the charge on the fifth and sixth singles courts, respectively. McKenzie won her match 6-1, 6-0 and Pidgeon won her match 6-0, 6-1. Caroline Vincent's 6-0, 6-3 win on the second singles court gave Army a 4-0 lead and clinched the match for the Black Knight, Paige Herremans, Justine Dondonay and Stephanie Dolehide all added singles victories to power Army to its fourth straight win.
