Women's Tennis Improves to 7-4 With Wins over Stony Brook, St. Bonaventure

WEST POINT, N.Y. - Army women's tennis earned two wins over the weekend in convincing fashion, sweeping Stony Brook and St. Bonaventure to improve to 7-4 on the season. The Black Knights put up a fight in its third match with the Massachusetts Minutemen, but fell, 4-0, snapping its five-match win streak.
Doubles
Army took the doubles point after winning two out of three matches. Cooper Jackson and Paige Herremans swept their opponents in one singles and Julia Kelly and Jenna Sabile clinched the point with a 6-1 win at three doubles.
Singles
The Black Knights cruised to the 7-0 sweep with six wins in singles action. Paulina Feoli had the largest victory with a 6-1, 6-0 win at six singles. Cooper Jackson, Justine Dondonay, Elizabeth Gilbert, Paige Herremans and Carolyn Ahn all added wins in the match.
Doubles
Army dropped the doubles point after losing two out of three matches. The teams of Justine Dondonay/Carolyn Ahn and Julia Kelly/Jenna Sabile battled in hard-fought 6-2 losses.
Singles
Anna Loureiro put up a fight at the five singles spot, but dropped a close 6-4, 6-3 match. The rest of the Army lineup kept fighting, but were not able to outlast the Massachusetts Minutemen who would go on to win, 4-0.
Doubles
The Cadets powered their way to the doubles points after a 6-1 victory by Jackson/Herremans at one doubles and then a 6-2 win by Gilbert/Feoli at two doubles.
Singles
Army would go on to sweep after winning three straight singles matches. Cooper Jackson was first to record a win with a 6-0, 6-3 win at one singles. Paulina Feoli and Paige Herremans followed along with a 6-0, 6-2 win at six singles and a 6-1, 6-1 win at five singles, respectively.
