Women's Tennis Sweeps Drexel, Georgetown

WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Army West Point women's tennis team protected Lichtenberg Tennis Center twice on Saturday with wins a pair of 4-0 sweeps over Drexel and Georgetown. The Black Knights improve to 9-4 on the young season with the victories and has now won three consecutive matches.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Army matched up opposite Drexel for the first match of the day, starting things of with a quick double point win. Paola Bou and Sophie McKenzie earned the first win of the match for the Cadets with a 6-0 sweep at the three doubles spot. While playing two doubles, Cooper Jackson and Paige Herremans clinched the doubles point for Army with a 6-2 win.
In singles action, MaryJo Pidgeon earned the first win at six singles with a 6-3, 6-0 win.Jenna Sabile had the largest margin of victory in the match with a 6-1, 6-0 win at the five singles spot. Herremans clinched the match for Army with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 victory playing at the three singles spot.
Coach Paul Peck rolled out the same doubles teams to start the second match against Georgetown. This time, it was Stephanie Dolehide and Caroline Vincent who led off with a 6-3 win at one doubles. Bou and McKenzie clinched the doubles point shortly thereafter with a 6-4 win at three doubles, giving Army a 1-0 lead.
Bou picked up where she left off on the doubles court, scoring the first point for Army with a 6-0, 6-1 win at four singles. Jackson cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win at four singles to put Army within one point of the win.
Justine Dondonay continued her strong start to the Spring season, with a 6-2, 6-1 win at five singles to clinch the win for the Black Knights.
NOTES AND TRENDS
Army will have the week to prepare for its trip to Florida where it will faceoff against Rollins and Air Force. The Falcons and Black Knights are set to matchup at the UTSA Campus in Orlando, Fla on College Match Day.
