After receiving the opening kickoff, Colgate was able to drive down across midfield resulting in a 49-yard field goal from Spencer Briscoe to make the score 3-0. Â
On the ensuing drive, Colgate would convert on the goal line with QB Michael Brescia punching in a one-yard rushing touchdown to give the Raiders a 10-7 lead. Continuing the offensive prowess in the first quarter, Freshman RB Hayden Reed scampered for a 45-yard gain on the first play of the Black Knights second drive. Reed would account for 64 yards in total on the drive and eventually score his second touchdown of the season with a one-yard plunge. The score stood at 14-10 in favor of Army through the first 15 minutes.Â
Â
On the Black Knights next possession, RB Ay'Jaun Marshall got the drive started with a 25-yard rush into Colgate territory. The Black Knights would get the ball back quickly, when a tipped a pass at the line of scrimmage was intercepted by LB Leo Lowin for his first career INT. Â
