Army Blanks Lafayette, Holy Cross

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army Black Knights men's tennis team picked up a pair of 4-0 wins over Lafayette and Holy Cross on Friday to improve to 3-0 in league play.
DOUBLES
The Black Knights won the doubles point by taking three matches. Army posted identical 6-2 scores in one and two doubles. The team of Diego Huttepain and A.J. Woodman defeated Nash Lovallo and Josh Wolfe in No. 1 doubles, while David Gorshein and Vishnu Bodavula won in two doubles. The No. 3 duo of Jake Huarte and Michael Rooney outlasted Arman Ganchi and Luke Ritchie, 7-5.
SINGLES
Army clinched the match by winning two singles matches in straight sets and winning one when an opponent retired in No. 5 singles.
Jake Huarte eased to a 6-3, 6-0 win in three singles, and Daniel Zhou cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win in four singles.
Diego Huttepain (No. 1), A.J. Woodman (No. 2), and Stanley Liu (No. 6) were all winning their respective matches when the match was clinched.
DOUBLES
For the second straight match, the Black Knights won all three doubles matches to win the point. In one doubles, Samuel Eden and Diego Huttepain won 6-1. In three doubles, Vishnu Bodavula and Michael Rooney defeated their opponent 6-2, and Nathan Jose and Thomas Lake earned a 6-2 victory.
SINGLES
Army took a 2-0 lead after Samuel Eden's opponent retired in one singles with Eden leading 2-1 in the second set after winning the first set 6-2. Samuel Haikal topped Connor Nelson, 6-1, 6-1 in three singles, and Paul Roberts clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-2 victory in six singles.
