STORRS, Conn. – The Army West Point women's tennis team dominated UConn on Saturday afternoon on the Huskies' home courts, picking up a 7-0 result for its third-straight win.
This marks the fourth-straight triumph via sweep for the Black Knights (18-7, 2-0 PL), who have recently blanked Monmouth, Lafayette and Holy Cross.
Army got to work attacking the Huskies (7-4, 1-0 Big East) early, picking up a pair of wins on the second and third courts, respectively, to take a 1-0 lead. The duo of Cooper Jackson and Paige Herremans defeated their opponents 6-0 before Paola Bou and Sophie McKenzie locked up the doubles point with a 6-1 result.
Caroline Vincent began singles play with a straight-set win on court two before Jackson put the team on the verge of clinching with a 6-2, 6-2 result at the third flight. Justine Dondonay's 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles then officially secured the result for the visiting team, though the match was played out.
Army picked up three-straight wins from Bou, Stephanie Dolehide and Elizabeth Gilbert at the fourth, first and sixth spots to boost its way to the 7-0 sweep.
