April 14, 2022 | Women's Tennis
WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Army West Point women's tennis team closed out its home schedule in winning fashion, defeating Colgate 6-1 on Thursday night at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center.
In addition to the victory, which pushed the Black Knights (21-9, 4-2 PL) to a 15-3 home record, the match was also highlighted by a senior day ceremony that saw head coach Paul Peck honor the five-member Class of 2022: Paola Bou, Sam DiMaio, MaryJo Pidgeon and co-captains Stephanie Dolehide and Caroline Vincent.
Dolehide and Vincent kicked off the action against the Raiders (10-9, 3-2 PL) with a decisive 6-0 result at the top singles court. The team of Bou and Justine Dondonay quickly followed up with a 6-0 win of their own at No. 3 doubles to put Army ahead 1-0.
In singles play, DiMaio added a senior day win of her own by posting a 6-1, 6-3 result at the sixth flight before Vincent and Bou put the Cadets on the verge of clinching the match with straight-set wins at the second and fourth spots. Cooper Jackson officially sealed the win for the Black Knights, defeating her opponent 6-4, 6-2 on the third court while pushing the lead to 4-0.
Though the match was already locked up by the home team, both sides had agreed to play out all of the singles courts. Following Jackson's triumph, Dolehide chipped in a straight-set victory at No. 1 singles before Colgate's Undermeyer snuck in a three-set win to push the final score to 6-1.
