Rifle Falls To No. 4 Kentucky

LEXINGTON, KY. –The Army West Point rifle team fell on the road to Great America Rifle Conference (GARC) Kentucky, ranked fourth nationally, Saturday at the UK Rifle Range in Lexington, Kentucky.
The Wildcats (7-1) dominated the match, claiming smallbore (2351) and air rifle (2376) combining for a 4727 aggregate in outpointing the Black Knights' 4632. Army (1-7) fired a 2305 in smallbore and 2327 in air rifle, respectively.
Army's Anusha Pakkam led the Black Knights with a 583 mark in smallbore and 586 in air rifle score to rank fifth in the aggregate scoring with an 1169. Ashley Clegg was next at 1157 (574 smallbore and 583 air rifle).
Pakkam was fifth overall in both smallbore and air rifle disciplines. Claudia Sigel was Army's next highest shooter in smallbore with a 577 followed by Clegg's 574. In air rifle, Clegg finished behind Pakkam in sixth (583) followed by Chris Jenning (581).
Kentucky's Sofia Ceccarello, a freshman, was the individual winner in smallbore (594), air rifle (599) and aggregate (1193) as the Wildcats swept the top four in each discipline.
Army continues on the road for its next match when the Black Knights visit arch-rival and conference foe Navy on Saturday, Feb. 4.
