WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point men's cross country fell to Navy by a score of 17-43.
The Black Knights top finished was Marc Baroncini who came in fifth with a time of 24:23.1
Isaac Morris finished in fifth just seven seconds behind Baroncini. Anthony Diaz rounded out the Army runners in the top 10 coming in ninth at 24:46.3.
Army currently leads the Star Series presented by USAA with a record of 3-1-1. The wins came in golf, sprint football, and women's cross country, the draw came in men's soccer.
COACHES CORNER
Head Coach Mike Smith: A disappointing loss for our men today. Our most experienced guys never really put themselves into the race. We were tentative and then when it mattered most, we tried to move up but it was not enough to impact the outcome of the race. The two underclassmen that led us today (Morris, Baroncini) ran the type of race I had hoped to see from our entire team. They got out well and then moved up throughout the race. Isaac impressed me with his effort and Marc showed the kind of grit that we expect at this meet. I know the guys can perform at a higher level and I think they know that as well. There is a lot of resolve in this group so they will rebound and be ready to go again at the conference meet in two weeks.
