Hunter, Ericson lead Women's Basketball to Big Win On The Road

EASTON, Pa. -- The Army West Point women's basketball team (12-13 10-5 PL) defeated the Lafayette Leopards (8-17, 5-10) by a score of 72-51 on the road Saturday, marking the fourth straight victory. Sabria Hunter had a monster game, logging 17 points and 21 rebounds and freshman Reese Ericson shot the ball nicely, scoring 14 points, connecting on four made three-pointers.
From the get-go, Army came out shooting the ball as Reese Ericson and Lauren Lithgow splashed three-point makes to quickly score the first six points of the game as Army got off to a 6-2 lead. Lithgow saw the bottom of the net again from deep later in the first quarter, helping Army grow its advantage to 16-5.
Ericson made her second three of the afternoon with 1:38 in the opening quarter as Army stretched its lead, 22-7.
Ericson's third triple came in the closing seconds of the opening quarter, as Army led after one, 27-13. Ericson was 3-3 from three for nine points.
Ericson's fourth three came early in the second quarter as Army pushed out to a 15-point lead, 30-15.
Army went into half leading 43-28.
Army outscored Lafayette, 20-9 in the third as they opened up the lead. Natalie Rhine scored six straight points for Army, making back-to-back threes to open a 25-point Army lead as the third quarter ended.
Senior Sabria Hunter was dominant, per her usual as she logged her 17th double double of the season. Entering today she was T-6th in the country in most double-doubles. Today marked her second game this season logging 20+ rebounds and it was her first recording 15+ points and 20+ rebounds.
Hunter shot 50.0% from the field (5-10) and connected on seven free throw makes.
Natalie Rhine scored a season best 11 points, making three three-pointers.
As a team, Army shot 41.7% from three-point (10-24) and shot 43.3% (26-60) from the field in the game.
Army's largest lead in game (33 points) came with 4:33 to go in the fourth.
