Black Knights Have Solid Performance at Boston Winter Open

BOSTON, MASS.– The Army men's and women's swimming team has solid performance in a challenging field at the two-day Boston Winter Open held at the Aquatics Center-Competition Pool. Army was one of seven schools, including host Boston University, Boston College, Brown, Holy Cross, Northeastern, MIT, Tufts, and Wesleyan College.
Among the highlights for Army's men and women at the Boston Winter Open:
The Men's Meet
Army's CJ Sheldon finished first in the 500 free with a final time of 4:27.88. Jordan Max and Elias Contogonas finished third and fourth with times of 4:38.38 and 4:43.01 respectively. In the 100 fly James Pinter finished third behind Brown's Tucker Peterson (47.96) and Chris Ma (48.64) who finished first and second respectively.
Senior Sean Keenan finished third in the 100 back with a final time of 49.86. Jordan competed in the 1650 free, finishing second with a time of 16:06.22. Contogonas finished fourth with a time of 16:32.05. Junior James Pinter competed in the 100 free, finishing second (45.04) behind Brown's Tucker Peterson (44.85) respectively. Pinter also finished second in the 50 free with a final time of 20.53.
The Women's Meet
In the 200 fly Army's Erica Esterly finished 2nd with a final time of 2:05.46, the Black Knights best score of the afternoon. Esterly also competed in the 500 free. Esterly finished 13th (5:19.78) just behind Aria Eppinger of MIT (5:19.62). Sophomore Maya Amersi raced in the 50 free finishing 12th with a time of 24.37. Ella Gross also competed in the 50 free finishing 15th with a final time of 24.41.
Sophomore Ella Gross also competed in the 100 fly coming in 9th with a time of 57.98. Esterly followed Gross finishing 10th (57.98). Also, in the 100 free, Gross and Amersi finished 18th and 19th with times of 53.57 and 53.62, respectively.
On the boards, Joanna Conrad finished 13th in the 3M dive with a final score of 247.10. Conrad also finished 12th in the 1M dive with a score of 251.45.

NEXT UP
The men and women have concluded the regular season, but Army will return to action on February 19-26 at 6 p.m. for the Patriot League Championships hosted by Bucknell.
