Army has Strong Performance at UCONN and Lehigh Invites

STORRS, CONN. / BETHLEHEM, PA. – The Army West Point women's tennis team split their forces, having a solid performance at the UCONN and Lehigh Invites.
Match Recap
UCONN Invite Day One:
Army's Carolyn Ahn, Paige Herremans, Paulina Feoli, Isabella Brilliant, Vennmukiil Mathivanan, Emily Ruckno, and Naomi Widiaman represented the Black Knights at the UCONN Invite.
In the singles No. 1 spot, Feoli fell to Stony Brook's Mia Palladino in two sets (6-3, 6-3). In the second position, Herremans was bested by Elena Lobo-Corral 6-3, 6-3. Senior Carolyn Ahn fell Chandrika Joshi in a tight three-set match in the No. 3 spot (3-6, 7-5, 10-4).
In the fourth position, Isabella Brilliant bested Cornelia Bruu-Syversen in three sets (7-5, 2-6, 10-5). In the No. 5 singles spot, Mathivanan competed opposite Stony Brook's Kristi Boro. Mathivanan defeated Boro 6-1, 6-0.
Freshman Emily Ruckno competed against Debby Mastrodima in the sixth position. Ruckno bested Mastrodeima in three sets 4-6, 6-1, 10-7. In the seventh position, Naomi Widiaman defeated Stony Brook's Darian Perfiliev in two sets (6-0, 6-0).
In doubles, the Black Knights continued to dominate the court. Stony Brook took the first match with Feoli and Ruckno falling to Kristi Boro and Mia Palladino 4-6. In the second position, Paige Herremans and Naomi Widiaman bested Elena Lobo-Corral and Chandrika Joshi 6-3. In the No. 3 spot, Carolyn Ahn and Isabella Brilliant defeated Darian Perfiliev and Sara Annamaria Medved 6-1.
UCONN Invite Day Two:
On the second day of competition, the Black Knights faced off against the Bryant University Bulldogs.
Paige Herremans faced off against Bryant's Natalia Vela in the No.1 spot. Herremans fell to Vela in two sets (6-3, 6-3). In the second position, Ahn was bested by Bryant's Yahli Noy in a 6-7, 3-6 match. In the No. 3 spot, Army's Isabella Brilliant defeated Aurora Pedwell in two sets (6-4, 6-3).
In the fourth position, Vennmukiil Mathivanan bested Caitlyn Munson 6-1, 6-1. At the No. 5 spot, Ruckno competed opposite Lisa Marie Dugec. Ruckno defeated Dugec in three sets (6-1, 4-6, 10-4).
In the sixth position, Widiaman bested Bryant's Olivia Rondini 6-4, 7-5. In the No. 7 spot, junior Paulina Feoli faced off against Nicole Isman. Feoli defeated Isman in two sets (6-2, 6-2).
In doubles, Bryant's Caitlyn Munson and Natalia Vela bested Paulina Feoli and Carolyn Ahn 6-1 in the first position. In the No. 2 spot, Isabella Brilliant and Emily Ruckno defeated Yahli Noy and Aurora Pedwell in a tight 7-5 match. Vennmukiil Mathivanan and Naomi Widiaman competed opposite Lisa Marie Dugec and Aurora Pedwell. Mathivanan and Widiamen fell to Dugec and Pedwell in a close 6-7 match.
UCONN Invite Day Three:
Army competed against Sacred Heart on the final day of the UCONN Invite.
In the first position, Feoli bested Aina Garriga 6-4, 6-2. Paige Herremans competed opposite Flavia Rambaldi in the No. 2 spot. Herremans defeated Rambaldi in three sets (6-4, 3-6, 10-6).
In the third position, Isabella Brilliant bested Sacred Heart's Olivia Kharkover 6-2, 6-1. Vennmukiil Mathivanan competed against Renee Sharma in the No.4 spot. Mathivanan defeated Sharma in two sets (6-2, 6-2).
In the fifth position, Ruckno bested Ana Sophia Angeles Sánchez 6-3, 7-5. Widiaman competed opposite Sacred Heart's Kim Fenton in the sixth position. Widiaman defeated Fenton in two sets (6-3, 6-0).
In doubles, the Black Knights continued to dominate the court. In the No. 1 spot, Feoli and \ Widiaman bested Aina Garriga and Kim Fenton in a thrilling 7-5 match. Isabella Brilliant and Emily Ruckno competed opposite Flavia Rambaldi and Olivia Kharkover. Brilliant and Ruckno defeated Rambaldi and Kharkover 6-1.
Lehigh Invite Day One:
Army's Cooper Jackson, Jenna Sabile, Emma Sy, Julia Kelly, Ylan Duong, Madison Smith, Stacey Samonte, and Alexandra Oshidar represented the Black Knights at the Lehigh Invite.
In singles, Army competed against the Colgate Raiders. In the No. 1 spot, junior Cooper Jackson defeated Amelia Galin in two sets (6-1, 6-3. In the third position, Emma Sy bested Carina Cristobal 6-1, 6-3.
In the No. 4 spot, freshman Madison Smith defeated Colgate's Sasha Herman 6-3, 6-2. Julia Kelly competed against Jordan Ben-Shmuel in the fifth position. Kelly bested Ben-Shmuel in two sets (7-5, 6-1). In the No. 6 spot, sophomore Ylan Duong faced off against Avery Isaac. Duong defeated Isaac 6-3, 7-5.
In doubles, the Black Knights faced off against the St. Joseph's Hawks.
Cooper Jackson and Madison Smith competed against Charlotte Kordonowy and Fabiana Tort-Umpierre in the first position. Jackson and Smith bested Kordonowy and Tort-Umpierre 8-1. In the No. 2 spot, juniors Julia Kelly and Jenna Sabile defeated Brooke Tackett and Victoria Tracey 8-0.
In the third position, Ylan Duong and Emma Sy bested Ireland and Sophia Amato 8-7 (1). Alexandra Oshidar and Stacey Samonte faced off against Ana Ocasio and Olivia Slate in the No. 4 spot. Oshidar and Samonte defeated Ocasio and Slate 8-0.
Later in the afternoon, Army competed against Lehigh in singles.
Jackson defeated Hamsa Javagal in the No.1 spot in two sets (6-4, 6-0). In the second position, Army's Jenna Sabile faced off against Lehigh's Maggie Forkner. Sabile bested Forkner 6-4, 6-1. In the No. 3 spot, Emma Sy fell to Megh Dania 6-1, 6-1. Madison Smith competed opposite Hannah Letzer in the fourth position. Smith defeated Letzer in two sets (6-2, 6-3),
In the fifth position, Julia Kelly bested Audrey Harrington 6-1, 6-2. In the No. 6 spot, Samonte bested Lehigh's Anushka Dania in a thrilling three-set match (1-6, 6-4, 11-9).
Lehigh Invite Day Two:
On the final day of the Lehigh Invite, the Black Knights kicked off the match competing against Colgate in doubles.
Junior Cooper Jackson and freshman Madison Smith competed opposite Jordan Ben-Shmuel and Sophia Montero in the No. 1 spot. Jackson and Smith defeated Ben-Shmuel and Montero 8-3. In the second position, Julia Kelly and Jenna Sabile defeated Amelia Galin and Carina Cristobal 8-3.
Emmy Sy and Ylan Duong faced off against Sasha Herman and Gigi Bohan in the No. 3 spot. Sy and Duong bested Herman and Bohan 8-4.
Army then competed opposite St. Joseph's in singles.
Sabile competed opposite Charlotte Kordonowy in the first position. Sabile defeated Kordonowy in two sets (6-1, 6-1). In the No. 2 spot, Emma Sy bested Victoria Tracey 6-2, 6-4. In the third position, Smith defeated St. Joseph's Fabiana Tort-Umpierre in two sets (6-2, 6-0).
Julia Kelly faced off against Sophia Amato in the No. 4 spot. Kelly bested Amato 6-2, 6-0. In the fifth position, Stacey Samonte defeated Kirsten Wijnsema in two sets (6-4, 6-2). Freshman Alexandra Oshidar competed opposite Ireland Amato in the sixth position.
The Black Knights concluded the Lehigh Invite, competing against the Mountain Hawks in doubles.
In the No. 1 spot, Jackson and Smith defeated Anushka and Megha Dania 8-3. Kelly and Sabile competed against Maggie Forkner and Audrey Harrington in the second position. Kelly and Sabile bested Forkner and Harrington 8-4. In the No. 3 spot, Sy and Duong faced off against Avery Hopkey and Giselle Vlassis. Sy and Duong defeated Hopkey and Vlassis 8-3.
