Men’s Soccer Punches Back Late but Falls to American
October 05, 2024 | Men's Soccer
WEST POINT, N.Y. – A Jubril Bamgbala goal off the bench gave shorthanded Army Men's Soccer late life, but the squad could not mount an equalizer, and the Black Knights fell 2-1 to the American Eagles at Malek Stadium Saturday afternoon.
A flurry of Eagle goals after a scoreless first half made it 2-0 early in the second half. Dilane Zouantcha had the brace for American with 51' and 56' goals. Army's Kelly Cooper then took a second yellow card in the 75', which dropped the Black Knights to 10 men for the remainder of the fixture.
However, Bamgbala scored under 10 minutes before making his first appearance of the match, finding the back of the net after collecting a deflection from a corner kick.
The goal was one of just two shots on target however for the home side, as Army wouldn't be able to mount a match-tying goal.
