Lyons’ Late Goal Secures Point for Men’s Soccer

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Though seven Patriot League fixtures for Army Men's Soccer going into Friday night, all results were determined by a single goal.
That string of results was extended to eight consecutive matches, but the Black Knights would not go empty-handed vs. the Loyola Greyhounds.
On a night commenced by Senior Night pageantry, it was one of Army's 22 underclassmen who secured a Patriot League point and 2-2 draw at Malek Stadium.
Gage Lyons received the ball on a free kick delivery from Ronald Zhai and headed the ball into the net in the 80'.
Army's goals bookended the visiting team's, with the Black Knights finding themselves behind late in spite of a goal in the match's opening minutes to strike first.
That goal was a 3' header from Jack Kryger, who was found by a Kasem Minzey cross.
The Greyhounds tied the match in the 16' and took the lead in the 32'.
Army's first goal was tied for the earliest in a match all year. Its second goal was the 10th from a set piece this year.

17: Army recorded 17 shots, which was tied for third-highest this season in a single match. The Black Knights outshot Loyola 10-4 after halftime.
