November 08, 2024 | Men's Rugby
WEST POINT, N.Y. — The Army West Point men's rugby team (7-1) will host Rugby East rival Kutztown University (2-4) to wrap up their 2024 fall season.
"We're looking forward to our final fall game against a very tough divisional opponent in Kutztown," said Head Coach Matt Sherman. "We've been really pleased with our progress these last few weeks, and we're determined to set a new standard this Saturday. We know we'll need to bring our best against a formidable opponent."
Army enters the match with a near-perfect 7-1 record. Leading the Black Knights' scoring efforts is Howie Heller, who has accumulated 53 points this season.
The Golden Bears (2-4) come into the matchup with wins over two of their six opponents. Both teams have faced common opponents in Walsh, Mary Washington, Southern Virginia, Penn State, St. Bonaventure, and Navy. While Kutztown fell to Mary Washington, Penn State, and St. Bonaventure—all of whom Army defeated—both teams share a similar loss to Navy.
This marks the 10th meeting between Army and Kutztown, with the Black Knights leading the series 6-3. The Golden Bears, however, won the most recent contest last fall, defeating Army 27-4.
Kickoff is set for 12:00 PM and can be streamed on the Army West Point athletic's YouTube.
