WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Army West Point Women's Basketball team (2-1, 0-0) claimed a 64-42 victory over St. Peter's (0-2, 0-0) on Saturday afternoon in Christl Arena.
Leading the Black Knights was Reese Ericson, who scored 15 points, shooting .625 from the field. Taylor Wilson followed with 13 points off the bench, marking her second straight game this season scoring in double digits.
Camryn Tade anchored the defense, grabbing a team-high seven rebounds and adding two steals. The sophomore also contributed eight points.
Ten different Black Knights scored, including Sam Tillson, who recorded the first two points of her Army career.
HOW IT HAPPENED
St. Peter's started strong, going up 5-0 with points on their first two possessions. Army responded three and a half minutes in when Trinity Hardy drained a three-pointer, cutting the deficit to two.
After a scoreless two minutes, Ericson nailed a three-pointer, giving the Black Knights their first lead. The Peacocks answered with five straight points to regain the advantage, but Army closed the quarter with seven unanswered points, leading 13-10.
The Black Knights' scoring run continued in the second quarter with back-to-back three-pointers from Ericson, followed by three more unanswered points to extend the lead to 25-10. St. Peter's scored with two minutes left, but Army went into halftime up 30-17.
The third quarter saw the teams trade baskets, with Army slightly outscoring St. Peter's 16-13 to enter the fourth quarter with a 46-30 lead.
The fourth quarter began similarly, with both teams exchanging points until Army pulled away with a 10-point run, bringing the score to 60-38 with a minute left. Each team added four points in the final minute, sealing a 64-42 win for the Black Knights.
