Wrestling to Recognize Senior Night Sunday Against American

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point Wrestling—fresh off a Star Match win over Navy one week ago—will celebrate Senior Night against American Sunday in its final home match of 2024 at Christl Arena.
First match will begin at 5:00 p.m. YouTube Live will broadcast the dual meet.

» The Black Knights (6-4, 5-1 EIWA) rode early match wins and withstood multiple runs from Navy last week, defeating its arch rival 18-17 in the dual match Friday. Gunner Filipowicz won a 5-4 thriller in the 165lb division over Midshipman Andrew Cerniglia—who came into the duel with 15 consecutive wins. Ethan Berginc also secured a decisive team point for Army with a technical fall in the 125lb bout.
» The Black Knights evened the Star Series Presented by USAA, 9-9-1 with the Wrestling win.
» Seven Army wrestlers featured in last week's NCAA Division I Coaches Ranking. Ethan Berginc slotted at No. 30 in the 125-pound weight class. Braden Brasile moved to No. 28 in the 133-pound rankings. Matthew Williams came in at No. 32 in the 149-pound division. Nathan Lukez garnered a No. 33 spot in the 157-pound class. At 165 pounds, Gunner Flipowicz came at No. 26. Benjamin Pasiuk was the highest ranked Black Knight in any weight class, ranking No. 14 at 174-pounds. Lucas Stoddard meanwhile was ranked No. 22 in the heavyweight class.

» American currently stands at 8-12 overall in dual meets and 0-3 against EIWA opponents.
» The Eagles will be wrestling in their second dual of the day Sunday, with a 12:00 p.m. meet also scheduled at Columbia.
» Two Eagles remained ranked in the second release of NCAA Coaches' Rankings announced on February 15. Junior Jack Maida (12-1) is 28th at 125 pounds, and grad student Will Jarrell (14-11) is 33rd at heavyweight.
