Golf Leads Patriot League Championship After Day One

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Army West Point golf team started out on the right foot in the opening round of the Patriot League Championship at Saucon Valley Country Club and has the lead after the first 18 holes.
The Black Knights have a five-shot advantage over Lafayette on the team leaderboard after shooting 3-over as a team for a score of 291. Lafayette's Sean Saw has a one-shot lead over Joshua Kim, who finished 1-under with an opening round 71.
TOURNAMENT NOTES:
• Joshua Kim had four birdies and an eagle on the day and knew it would be a good day when he eagled the opening hole of the tournament.
• John Heckel Jr. and Drew Jeffords are tied for seventh on the leaderboard at 1-over par after the first 18.
• Heckel Jr. finished with three birdies, and all came on the front nine, where he was 1-under making the turn.
• Jeffords ended his round on fire with four birdies in his last six holes to make up four shots as he was 1-under for the final nine holes.
• Samuel Kim and Rob Ferris sit in a tie for 14th on the leaderboard, carding a 2-over 74 on the first day.
• Lake Kim finished 3-over in round one and had three birdies as part of his round.
The Black Knights will tee off Saturday morning at 11 a.m. for Round 2 of the Patriot League Championship.
