Golf Wraps Up Season at Patriot League Championship

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Army West Point golf team finished its 2024 spring season on Sunday at the final round of the 2024 Patriot League Championship at Saucon Valley Country Club.Â
The Black Knights ended the three-day tournament in eighth place. Loyola Maryland took home the team title by 13 strokes. Carlo Pizzano of Loyola protected his 36-hole lead and won the individual title by one stroke over teammate James Rico and Navy's Jack Tarzy. Pizzano finished at 2-over for the tournament.Â
TOURNAMENT NOTES:
• Team captain John Heckel Jr. was named to the All-Patriot League Second Team by finishing in the top 10 on the individual leaderboard at 7-over for the tournament.
• The honor was Heckel Jr.'s third-straight postseason award after being named Rookie of the Year and All-Patriot League Second Team in 2022 and a First Team honoree in 2023.Â
• Heckel Jr. had his best round of the championship weekend with an even-par 72 on Sunday.Â
• Josh Kim finished in a tie for 15th at 10-over for the tournament and had Army's best round of the weekend on day one with a 1-under 71.Â
