Men’s Rugby Returns Home for Friday Night Matchup vs. Penn State
November 06, 2025 | Men's Rugby
WEST POINT, N.Y. – After three consecutive matches away from Anderson Rugby Complex, Army West Point men's rugby is back at home Friday night vs. Penn State.
Kickoff from Warrior Field against its Rugby East foe is set for 6:00 p.m.
"We're looking forward to returning home to Warrior Field, as we've spent significant time this year and recently on the road. Penn State is a tough team, and despite not always getting the results they'd have wanted, they have been tough and tight in every game, and we expect a very tough game Friday night. Our focus remains steadfast on climbing to a new best performance, we feel that the team has put in the work to earn that, and we're motivated to take that step forward and upward Friday night," said head coach Matt Sherman.
The Black Knights may have not had home pitch advantage since September 27, but they have made the most of a road warrior mentality, with a trio of consecutive high-octane wins. After taking down Mary Washington October 4, Army defeated Mount St. Mary's October 25 and rival Air Force October 31, the latter in 52-7 fashion.
Howie Heller and Richard Corbett III are pacing the Black Knights in points, with 43 and 27 respectively. At Air Force, Corbett recorded 11 total points, by way of three conversions and a try.
The Black Knights are 8-7 in its varsity history vs. the Nittany Lions, with six consecutive wins in the series. A season ago, Army was a 24-7 winner in Happy Valley, behind a pair of tries from Heller.
Army—6-1 overall and 3-1 in Rugby East in 2025-26—meets a Penn State squad looking for its first win in conference play. The Nittany Lions are coached by Zac Mizell, the brother of Army assistant coach Jake Mizell.
Army concludes the fall season next weekend with a November 15 matchup vs. Navy. Kickoff for the match—part of the Star Series presented by USAA—is set for 4:00 p.m. from Anderson Rugby Complex.
