Track and Field Wraps Up Crowell Invite

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point track and field programs had a successful opening weekend at the Crowell Invite inside the Gillis Field House on Friday and Saturday.
Action got underway on Friday afternoon with the women's pentathlon and the men's heptathlon. All five of the pentathlon events were completed on Friday and saw Army sophomore Brooke Munoz come out on top with 3,107 total points. Munoz had an impressive showing, taking first place in the 60-meter hurdles and long jump. Freshman Savannah Liles also finished on the podium for Army with a third-place finish.
The heptathlon got underway on Friday and finished up on Saturday morning. Army senior Canyon Hall dominated the event, racking up 4,868 points to finish in first. He recorded a top five finish in all but one event. Joseph Patt finished just behind him with 4,427 points.
Field Events
Army swept the top seven spots in the women's shot put, which was highlighted by a first-place throw of 15.34m by Jordan Hecht. In the women's weight throw, Kiana Emerson earned a third-place finish with a throw of 16.57m.
Sarah Connor (3.55m) and Elce Walsh (3.45m) took the top two spots in the women's pole vault. Olivia Reed won the women's long jump with a distance of 5.70m, while Nala Best finished in third at 5.14m. Senior captain Zoe Whaley won the high jump with a mark of 1.70m. Erin Allert recorded a first place result in the triple jump with a distance of 11.82m.
On the men's side, sophomore Matthew Palchak won the shot put with a throw of 17.68m. Robby Manse finished in third at 17.13m. Manse also finished second in the weight throw with a toss of 19.50m.
Carlos Posey took home the top spot in the long jump at 6.97m, while Ethan Vess finished in third. Zane Hicks (2.03m) and Isaiah Bates (1.94m) swept the top two spots in the high jump. Van Carter finished second in the pole vault.
Track Events
It was all Army in the women's 500m, as the Black Knights took home the top seven spots. Lauren Gallagher won the race with a time of 1:14.77. Milan Smith's time of 9.10 was good for first in the 60-meter hurdles.
In the women's 1000m, Chloe Esponda put up a blazing time of 2:56.61 to take first place. Erika Nyberg finished just behind her in second.
Army took home first in the women's 4x400m relay.
On the men's side, sophomore Owen Lang won the 400m with a time of 48.86, over two seconds clear of second place. The Black Knights took the top six spots in the 500m with Owen Hoag (1:05.87), Rahieum Lee (1:06.05) and Jordan Taylor (1:06.83) taking the podium spots.
In the 60m dash, Joshua Duncan (6.97) and Brandon Hull (7.00) led the way with two-best finishes. The top five finishers in the 1000m all belonged to Army, with Todd Worth leading the way at 2:28.38. Trey McGinnis posted a 34.96 to take home the top spot in the 300m.
The Black Knights wrapped up the invite with a top finish in the men's 4x400m relay with a time of 3:24.50.
