Rifle Defeats North Georgia, 4688-4632

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point rifle team swept both disciplines, taking the measure of North Georgia, 4688-4632, Saturday morning at Tronsrue Marksmanship Center. The Black Knights outpointed their guest 2333-2282 in smallbore and 2355-2350 in air rifle.
A pair of freshmen, Brenna Green and Barbara Forgues, led the Army sharpshooters to their fifth win of the season.
Green was first in the aggregate scoring (1178) and smallbore (586) and tied with Forgues for the gold in air rifle as both posted 592s with 45 centers. Forgues set a career mark, breaking her previous high by six points, while Green was just one shy of her personal best. Forgues was fifth in the aggregate scoring with a personal best 1167, along with finishing eighth in smallbore (575).
Army dominated smallbore claiming the top five shooters. In addition to Green's winning mark of 586, Chris Jennings (583), Ashton Arlington (583), Addison Antwiler (581) and Nicholas Bull (579) swept the next four spots. Antwiler tied her season best.
The Black Knights took the top three spots and five of seven in air rifle. In addition to Forgues and Green's identical 592 scores, Antwiler was just a point behind with a 591 and was the leader in centers (47).
Jennings and Bull followed with 586 marks finishing sixth and seventh, respectively, with the former breaking the tie with 39 centers.
The Black Knights will look to take the measure of the Nighthawks again on Sunday in closing out the weekend competition.
