February 17, 2025 | Hockey
BOSTON - Army West Point hockey sophomore defenseman Mac Gadowsky has been named Atlantic Hockey America Defenseman of the Week, announced today by the league.
Gadowsky helped the Black Knights earn a five-plus point weekend in the conference for the fifth consecutive weekend series as Army defeated Air Force 2-1 on Friday before a shootout win on Saturday after a 4-4 tie.
Gadowsky was instrumental in Army's comeback from a three-goal deficit in game two, logging a pair of assist before scoring the game-tying goal with 1:44 remaining to send the game into overtime. He added two blocked shots and skated to a plus-two rating for the weekend.
The win marks the fourth of the season for Gadowsky who was also named AHA Defenseman of the Month for January. He leads all blue liners in the country with 12 goals and 34 points and Saturday's game marked his sixth three-point effort of the campaign, becoming the third player in colelge hockey to reach that mark this season.
Army clinched a first round bye with the five-point weekend, and will close out the regular season this weekend with a home-and-home with AIC beginning on Friday in Springfield, Mass.
