Rifle Sweeps Field in NCAA Qualifier

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The West Point Army rifle team romped to a pair of wins in closing out its regular-season slate on Senior Day at Tronsrue Marksmanship Center. The Black Knights dominated both disciplines compiling a 4687 outshooting Norwich (4406) and MIT (4372) Saturday.
Freshman Addison Antwiler tied her season high claiming the gold in air rifle with a 596 en route to winning the aggregate scoring with an 1177, besting classmate Brenna Green by two points for that honor. Antwiler was third in smallbore with a 581, losing out on runner-up honors to fellow freshman Nicholas Bull, who beat her on centers (31-28) for that spot.
Army recorded a 2324 mark in smallbore where the Black Knights swept the top six places and seven of eight led by Green's top mark of 584 to include 34 centers. Rounding out the fourth-thru six spots were Chris Jennings (580), Ashton Arlington (579) and Briggs Moore (578).
The Black Knights took the top seven spots in air rifle led by Antwiler's 596. Green nipped Jennings for second place by a point with his mark of 591. Barbara Forgues was fourth (588) followed by Moore (586) and Bull (586), the former grabbing fifth on centers (39), with Arlington (584) rounding out the top part of the lineup.
Next up for Army is the GARC (Great America Rifle Conference) championships being hosted by No. 2 West Virginia (13-0, 5-0 GARC) Saturday and Sunday at the Bill McKenzie Mobile Rifle Range inside the WVU Shell Building.
